Are you looking for strapping to bundle your products? At Macfarlane Packaging we have a wide range of strapping and banding to secure your products.

Macfarlane Packaging can supply you with strapping material to help protect, seal, and secure your products.

We provide three main types of strapping, these are: Polypropylene Strapping, Polyester Strapping and Steel Strapping.

Strapping, also known as banding, is a vital part of product packing and distribution. It is used primarily to secure pallets but is also widely used to bundle together items in transit. The choice of strapping is varied but comes down to two main categories – metal and plastic.

Most metal strapping is made from steel and most plastic strapping is made from either polypropylene or polyester.

Traditionally, steel strapping is used in the shipment of heavy-duty items, such as bricks or timber. Plastic strapping is deemed more suited to the palletisation of lighter-duty products. It is also applied directly to cardboard boxes to improve handling.

What kinds of strapping does Macfarlane Packaging supply?

Macfarlane Packaging have a vast selection of strapping for you to choose from, including:

  • Polypropylene Hand Strapping Cardboard Core
  • Hand-Applied Polyester Strapping
  • Hand-Applied Corded Polyester Strapping
  • Ribbon Wound Steel Strapping
  • Oscillated Steel Strapping

Frequently Asked Questions

To help you make this decision, the Macfarlane Packaging team has put together a short guide that explains each of the three core types of strapping we offer:

Types of Strapping and Banding

Material

Recommended Uses

Steel Strapping

Steel banding is the strongest strapping of all with very high break strains. It is ideal for securing heavy loads and loads with sharp angles. Steel strapping has an elastic memory, maintaining the strap tension even if there is some pack settlement or shrinkage.

Polyester Strapping

Polyester strapping has the advantages of flexibility, strength retention, cost effectiveness and ours it is made from 100% recycled content. Polyester strapping is soft, lightweight, strong, and weather-resistant alternative to steel strapping.

Polypropylene Strapping

Polypropylene strapping is available on cardboard cores or plastic reels and can be custom printed to your specification, giving security, ease of identification and image enhancement. Our stock polypropylene strapping is made from 100% recycled content. If you're interested in printed banding, please contact us

Unfortunately, strapping and banding is not recyclable at kerbside.

It can however be recycled at an industrial level. This is why both our polyester and polypropylene banding is made from 100% recycled content, so its kinder to the environment.
